Welcome to the Russell Byers Charter School!
The Russell Byers Charter School, a public elementary school located in the
heart of Center City Philadelphia at 1911 Arch Street, opened for its
sixth year on August 28, 2006, with 400 students from 37 neighborhoods. We
offer 4K (Kindergarten for 4-year-olds) through 6th Grade, a student/teacher
ratio of 22:1, and an innovative hands-on academic program,
Expeditionary Learning. |

RBCS Improving Test Scores
As reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer on April 13, 2008, RBCS is listed in
"Schools in the Region with Improving Test Scores" for both 5th grade math and reading.

This video was created by Marc Nathan, one of our "Big Brothers," to help support the RBCS chess team.
Lottery
The enrollment lottery for 2008-09 was held on Friday, December 14, 2007. Notification
regarding acceptance and waitlist position was mailed out in early February. Thank you
to all applicants.
